This is a photo I took of a tree in the park at Vivid. I've since spent time in hospital with a brain tumour and this photo reminds me of the strength of my brain and its ability to recover.
HIGHLY COMMENDED "An invisible reflection" by Tully
These two photographs explore identity and self-perception through the use of a mirror turned away from the subject—a girl caught between presence and absence. The mirror, traditionally a tool for reflection, becomes a silent refusal. This absence highlights vulnerability and defiance, using light, shadow, and negative space to amplify the emotional tension. Together, the images challenge the gaze and suggest a narrative of autonomy, concealment, and quiet strength.
