FAQs

Why do entries open and close so early, if the exhibition isn't until October?
Once your entry has been received online, our hardworking team need time to collate everything for the Collected Works Book. This includes all the artwork and literature entries. The early lead in time is necessary for production, printing and publishing, so the book is available for the Festival opening in  October.

Do I have to bring a print out of my short story or poem to the exhibition?

Only Art, Photography, Sculpture and Textiles entrants need to bring their work to the venue. All literature entrants are published in the Collected Works Book, available at the Festival in October.

Can I buy extra copies of the book?

Every entrant receives their free copy of the Collected Works book, and a small number of additional books will be on sale at the exhibition. At the close of the exhibition, additional copies can be purchased from Amazon via this website bluefringe.org.au

Why does it only run for 4 days?

Funding constraints and the high cost of suitable venues are some of the factors influencing how long the Festival runs for. In addition, many of the hardworking committee members are volunteers from the community and their time is valuable too.

Is there a commission charged on sales?

There is no commission charged on sales of artwork. All monies received from sales go direct to the artist.

How are judges selected?

Selection of judges takes into account several factors. These include, connection to the community, professional standing within the local arts sector, commitment to the goals and values of Blue Fringe. The role of judge is generally for a two year period. This allows for different view points to be taken into account.

How can I join the committee?

We love having new members! Send us an email on the contact form on this website and we'll contact you. The committee meets monthly for most of the year and then fortnightly, sometimes via Zoom and usually in the mid mountains. During the Festival in October, there are many tasks undertaken by our wonderful volunteers and there's always room for more helping hands.
