WINNER ADULT TEXTILES "Sylvan Shoulder Dragon" by Robyn de Jong
I have always wanted a pet dragon like the "Fire Lizards" in Anne McCaffery's "Dragons of Pern" series. With this in mind I created "Sylvie", a Sylvan Shoulder Dragon that can be worn on the shoulder with the tail around the wearer's neck. Sylvie has a wire skeleton, a needle felted wool body, wet felted leaf-like scales and wings, a silk mane and amethyst eyes.

HIGHLY COMMENDED ADULT TEXTILES "Queen of Hearts Red Gown" by Monique Donaldson
I made this gown, to be worn at cosplay functions. It has its own hoop and petticoat. It is lighter than it looks to wear.

"Fiery Foliage" by Suba Bale
"Fiery Foliage" is a vibrant and dynamic original abstract painting of Suba Bale that captures the essence of energy and movement. Here I have digitally produced a 95% wool and 25% silk scarf from my original abstract painting. The bold use of colour and expressive brushwork create a sense of vitality and passion, making this scarf feel alive and immersive. The rich texture and layered composition invite viewers to explore the depth and complexity of the scarf engaging their senses and emotions. This scarf is a celebration of colour and form, using abstract patterns to evoke natural elements and create a powerful visual experience. It would be a striking addition to anyone’s wardrobe bringing warmth, energy, and a touch of wild beauty to the wearer.

"eyes shine blue" by Samantha Lee Curran
This piece has a line of poem I have written called "your eyes shine blue while mine leak it". It is about going through fundamental experiences with someone you are deeply connected to and it affecting them less or in different ways than it does you. They come out the other side unscathed while you’re drained. They’ve taken your colour to brighten theirs. This piece is part of my process of turning poetry into visual art.

"Beads and Books and Beaches" by Misha Maddock
A 3 hole pamphlet stitch book

"Kinsu of the Soul" by Wendy Blanchard
This is a mindful embroidery piece. There was no plan just French knots then at the end the "cracks" where filled with gold.

"Midnight Iridescence" by Michelle Murtha
This skirt is based on the idea of midnight, with its deep colour and spots of sparkle. The decadence is brought in through the use of texture, while the fullness of the skirt gives it a sense of fun and lightness. The design is kept coherent by echoing the swirl motif of the fabric in the embroidery used to secure the Angelina fibre in place.

"An indigenous inspired weave sea life wall hanging" by Julie Rossini
Encouraged by an indigenous weaving class by Tarni Eastward (of Nula Weaving), I have woven multiple pieces, and am now experimenting with the addition of beads and charms.

"Colours Woven Within" by Thais Turner
I loved the colourful patterns we made, the variegated soft ‘wool’, the silver shimmers and how I was able to weave this without tearing the paper strips. The product of an in-person creative session in Lawson in September 2023. I love learning new crafts and I need to remember to weave the colours within at all times.

"Free Form Flowing Transforms" by A Creative Outlet (ACO) Community Social Art Group
"At A Creative Outlet (ACO) Community Social Art Group, there is only one rule for creativity, that there are no rules. We are all our own unique colours. We make space and hold space for each other. Co-create & Collaborate, Innovate, Support, Accept, Form Creative friendships

"You May" by Adelaide Worcester
This work is about grief and the journey of granting oneself permission to let go. I am an emerging textile and mixed-media artist based in Canberra. I live with PTSD from my service assisting Australians overseas in times of crisis, and I use art to process my life experiences. Art keeps me curious.

"One Woman's Purpose" by Livonne Larkins
This headdress is based on the life of local councillor Suzie van Opdorp. The figures on the headdress represent different roles she has played throughout her life and other parts representing more personal aspects of her life.

"Home is Where the Heart Is" by Ivy Grant
This sculpture has echoes of previous work based in ideas of home, safety and belonging. It is a representation of self.

"Steampunk slave Leia" by Rose Fitz-Patrick and Wade Young
I love doing steampunk and cosplay and decided to do something completely different for this outfit. I asked my amazing cosplay friend Wade to show me how to use walba (that we used for the bra and belt plate). We did it together, you can tell which side is his lol and he showed me different painting techniques. It really helped my mental health doing this project with him and really let our friendship grow.
When displayed she will be standing upright, so you can see the details at back to. I stuck all the cogs onto my glasses. Painted the space gun, belt, arm bracelet. Looks better on me, as was made for me."
