WINNER ADULT SCULPTURE
"Burnt Banksia" by Stevie-Lee Lane
Blue Mountains local ceramicist inspired by the natural floral beauty of the surroundings. Lane makes organic free-flowing forms representing femininity of the female form integrated with nature in her sculptures.
HIGHLY COMMENDED ADULT SCULPTURE
"The Great Ozzie BBQ" by Monique Donaldson
I took the time to make each piece carefully, and experimented with different clays and resins to produce the panorama. It took 100 hours to complete the work approximately.
"Catalina Vessels" by Bren Sherring
The three dragonflies on this small vessel represent lessons of the past, contentment in the present, and the opportunities of the future. They remind me that I don't need to Belong in a toxic environment.
"Tiny Foods" by Louis Caruana
I was feeling sad. When I was in hospital, making these tiny foods helped me feel better.
"Fearless and Flawless" by Tina Giokaris
Empowered woman, a Queen! She is not afraid to fail and views failure as a stepping stone to greatness. She is in control of her own life and has the freedom to make independent choices that will lead her to happiness. She represents passion, confidence and self-respect, and embraces creative energy.
"I almost lost my head but somebody sticked it back in" by Jerel Mani
The body of the figure is a one note ocarina. The head is also a rudimentary 3 note ocarina.
"He Gave Her Silver Hands" by Rika Kristall
This sculpture is also a personal response to the myth of The Handless Maiden, it depicts my vision of the Silver Hands that the King had made for and is part of her journey towards wholeness. Thus, the maiden endures incredible hardship and pain as well as maintaining a purity of soul which draws a guiding angel to her and ultimately leads to her to wholeness and the interdependence of mature adult love.
"Layers of My Life" by Thais Turner
Created in Bellingen at Camp Creative (I forget which year). Layer upon layer, one level building upon another, just like the scaffolding we need to maintain in our lives, always building on experiences. It was fun to allow the shape to manifest itself at the time.
"Back To Nature" by Rose Fitz-Patrick
I love recycling and upcycling, so this is a beautiful wisteria vine wreath my mum Catherine Cole made at the Womens Shed at Lithgow, it was going into storage and I asked if I could use it for Blue Fringe. All the lichen, sticks and bits and pieces, lightning and I collected off the ground on our walks, I love the colours and different varieties of lichen. I added the little crystals to bring a bit of magic to this piece, recycled from a friend."
"Bitter Brew" by Adelaide Worcester
In ‘Bitter Brew,’ a seemingly ordinary office tea break hides a moment of violence—one figure attacks another while their boss looks away. The piece symbolises the quiet complicity that enables bullying to persist. By blending the ordinary with the unsettling, I aim to reveal the discomforting truth that ignoring such harm only allows it to fester.
"Geode on a Grecian Urn" by Imogen Waugh
This stone came to me with some baggage. Before I knew it, this stone had broken into a large awkward shard. To the original caretakers it was a disappointment, a constant reminder of what might have been. It’s funny how we can get trapped in our vision of what ought to be and become blind to what could be.
"Moss" by Ivy Grant
Wondering through the mountains, I am often drawn to rocky crevices, adorned with moss and dripping water. I imagine shrinking down, to live there, amongst the moss, tardigrades and other imagined fae creatures.
